Cooling Wilderness

(Crochet cropped boat neck sweater - Thrifted Vintage, Pleated shorts - from ASOS, Faux fur vest - from Sportsgirl, Faux fur barrel bag - from Bardot, Buckle boost - from Hong Kong boutique, Coral marble ring - from H&M, Silver crucifix necklace - from Sportsgirl.)

The climate has drastically turned cooler in Sydney and with such a miserably wet summer this year round, I'm so over it already and I haven't felt more eager for winter to hit sooner. To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of the cold, although I am rather excited with bringing back layering again during this season... Fashion is generally always better in winter in my opinion anyway.

You can't go wrong with cropped sweaters and a decent pair of highrise bottoms and pleats have always been a classic girly addition. As for faux fur, it's really the all essential must-have in any wardrobe for winter. Continuing on with my recent love for texture blocking, I've consistently been collaborating plenty of eye-catching coloured pieces to brighten up the classic, yet dull, winter neutrals. As I've once mentioned before, who said colours are only for S/S? I think that an odd clash of colour is the perfect addition to fight winter blues! On a side note: with talks of utilizing coloured brights for winter, I've been keeping my eyes open for neon's and ombre shaded pieces to add to my wardrobe. The inspiration came to me a while back browsing on ASOS.com when I randomly came across a neon ombre blazer, plus a pair of matching slacks set. beofre I could haul the neon ombre blazer, it was a shame that the set was snapped up way too quickly and sold out. So, if anyone has come across anything neon or ombre colouring pieces out there then I would love to hear and see more of it, as it is currently on my hot-list!

But anyway, once again I tend to thrive in living in 'comfort' ensembles. It was perfect for when I was visiting Tim lover the weekend before we decided to take a spontaneous trek around his hood where all the luscious greenery is the norm haha. Sometimes I forget how much further away he lives from me and how different our local neighborhoods are like in comparison, which is probably why shooting around his local is much more appealing than mine haha.

Brunch and texture-blocking

(Over-sized crochet buttoned dip top - by Bardot, Palm Print harem brights - designed by vucouturegirl, Faux fur barrel bag - by Bardot, Suede fallens - by Siren shoes, YSL Arty oval ring)

Yet another pair of harem pants pulled out from my drawer that's just overwhelmingly filled with them! There's really nothing more I prefer than a large variety of style of harem pants lately. Not only are they ridiculously comfortable, but they can look hella chic for any occasion no matter what style you're looking to work with.

I didn't realise how much I really loved my palm print harem brights. If anything - I'm sort of kicking myself a little for not wearing them sooner. And to be honest, I have yet to touch these since designing them two years back. So technically it would have to be my very first time I've actually taken these harems out for a spin since!

Layering had always been the vital style rule for winter, but this season I've really been taking an interest into working with plenty of textures with layering. And who said you needed to abide by conventional styling of shade layering? I'm really loving combinations of busy patterns and brights incorporated into winter this year paired with bold, yet very simple accessories. In summer, I fell in love with joys of colour-blocking, this season I'm all over texture-blocking!

It was only appropriate to bring out this comfort outfit over the weekend while out on a late bruncheon date with Tim at Forbe's and Burton (www.forbesandburton.com.au) in Darlinghurst... the pleasures of indulging in a delicious organic all-day breakfast meal with one of the top coffee's in Sydney, before ending the afternoon enjoying a lovely sunset over in Walsh Bay right at the foot of Sydney's iconic Harbour Bridge in the arms of my better half.

A laid back outfit, fit for a laid back afternoon.
