ASOS 'In your world' Beach Party

(Sheike Paisley Print Brocade shorts and jacket, H&M woven clutch, Court Couture Suede wedge sandals)

I would like to take the opportunity to thank ASOS.com for the VIP invitation to their 'In Your World' Beach Party held at The Beach Haus to witness the launch of their exclusive Aussie summer collection first hand. I suppose being an ASOS-a-holic payed off hehe and of course it was really a bit of an excuse for pre-weekend partying. Bringing along my favourite plus one Tim, we enjoyed our fair share canoodling amongst the crowd with catchy tunes and a few fresh beverages throughout the night. It was a good opportunity to pull out something fresh and bright to suit the theme of the collection launch with my currently favourite paisley print Brocade shorts and jacket. There's never 'too much' print-on-print when you have touches of yellow neon details and incorporate bright teal to spice up the dull black and white. I've been wildly obsessing over anything with paisley and/or baroque prints this season, and a lot of my print-spiration credits go to Australian SS12 collections such as Josh Goot and Manning Cartell's who have really fed my addiction for intricate yet soft prints! It's looking like water-colour prints are also next on my wardrobe 'hot' list.

Art of the Trench

(Burberry Heritage Gabardine Britton Trench coat, Leather collar trimmed chiffon blouse - by Loving Things, Abstract Boat neck dress - by Request, Cheap Monday Layer Ankle Boots)

If it's one investment anyone should make in their lifetime, than it is essential to own a Burberry trench coat! I can't really think of any better brand out there that produces exquisite rain-wear other than Burberry. Our friend the Trench Coat over the years has not only been a wardrobe style staple, but recognised as desirably weather resistant. The Burberry household in particular have produced one of the most classic pieces of all time that's also known to be fashionably protective!

So when the weather dramatically decides to turn for the worst one afternoon while Tim and I were out to enjoy good old brunch, there was no hesitation to take out good old Heritage Burberry! Teamed with a casual abstract dress, the contour lines needed a little elevating by keeping it to a minimum with a chiffon blouse lining. Basic layering that essentially becomes second nature when dealing with prints and textures.

Cocktaoo Island

(Vintage Floral cross over top, Zara Tailored Chinos, Burberry Prorsum AW'11 Satin Blazer, Tony Bianco Karissa heels, Tory Burch Saffiano tote, Ebay Baroque Swirl sunglasses )

The sun has been shining brightly and Sydney is beginning to witness the turn of an amazing new season. Spring is finally in full force and recently, weekend after weekend, Tim and I have been finding ourselves eagerly, yet spontaneously seeking unique locations for our shoots, giving more reason for us to take the opportunity to maximise being outdoors to enjoy the beautiful weather. During one of our various brunch-spot pursuits, Tim and I woke up bright and early to grab a bite at probably one of my most favourite, and I dare say, one of the Best Patisseries in Sydney, 'La Renaissance' located at The Rocks. Meat pies have always been a pastry weakness, and it didn't take much convincing that they've manage to win over my heart and taste-buds!

It has been a while since I've been on a ferry and after brunch it was Tim's wild idea to spend the afternoon at Cockatoo Island. The heritage-listed island is located in the middle of Sydney Harbour, its spectacular waterfront location and view of Sydney Harbour Bridge just made it a great location for minimalistic white cuts and subtle floral prints. Structured chinos are really all I live in lately and after managing to discover an all essential pair in white, it has become my favourite staple this Spring!

Dawn to Greater things

(Men's Pale Wheat Cashmere Sweater - from Burberry Prorsum S/S12 Collection, Pleather boyfriend shorts - from Glassons, Vintage knee-high detail stockings - from Glassons, Taupe suede booties - by Dolce Vita.)

Look what the cat dragged in? So it's been a long road to recovery for VU COUTURE GIRL, and during this time I've been juggling to find a balance between my social life, while setting out to find my feet in the fashion industry. In saying so, it's been difficult to manage the spare time for social networking, let alone putting love into my blog.

This year I finally decided to listen to my heart and pursue a career in Fashion. I've taken off the full time load at University to essentially to seek out my options, and I'm not going to lie, it's been tough one and part of this was jumping between job to job. Excitingly enough, as part of the initial step to support my passions I've also recently taken up studies at FBI Fashion College. Although it meant more on my plate, there was no better time to begin blogging again than to include documenting the adventures of my pursuit.

So over the past few weeks Tim and I have worked hard to put together my blog and it's been extremely exciting to see the results so far, as it begins to take shape. Essentially I hope that as VU COUTURE GIRL evolves, so would my own understanding of where I, myself, belong within the fashion industry. I want to thank you all for your patience during this time and it's great returning to the blogosphere! Feel free to drop me a message/question anytime via the following links. Let the good times roll!
